The Wolfpack and its glory has given way to a new breed: die Rappen. Die Rappen are the new spelling team for this year, Rappen Pl in English means black horses. The spellers have already been winnying and trotting about and have amazingly been demanding to spell words before and after school. Many of the Rappen are hoping to get their names retired if they also become 4x champions like the former Wolfpack Alpha Steffi. I have my work cut out for me, we have some really good spellers, but I need to recruit and inspire some of the kids in my IV class that used to spell when they were younger and our opponents are looking to avenge their losses, especially after the article in paper!Friday, September 17, 2010

BBQ 2010
The 2010 Alumni BBQ is history. Our biggest and best BBQ yet! We had about 40 former students in attendance. Many of the students are now married and we had 2 couples bring their children! But, somehow they are aging very well. To me and my wife, they all still look about 18. They could be sitting in the classroom with the rest of my students and fit in right in!
In the video you will see our first annual alumni spelling bee. It was the older students vs. the younger ones. The younger ones managed to claim victory with the help of the oldest alumni speller--Josef (Richard Harris).
Check in throughout the year for announcements, news and updates!

German Day 2008 and Exchange Student Opportunity!
Pictured is the 2008 Beginning champs right after their victory! Unfortunately our Adv. team took 2nd* and 3rd that year. They let us enter two advanced teams that year for some reason. Our "B" team took 3rd with two freshmen spelling who had never seen the list before and were tutored that morning by alumna Antonia (Nina) Ferguson. Our advanced team was just going to spell to tie when the judges called time...frustrating to say the least...

BBQ RSVP!
Alright Kinder, it's that time of the year! If you are one of the cool kids coming to the BBQ (July 31, 1-3 at Mastadon State Park Pavillion on Seckman Rd) you can either email me or comment on this page. Significant others, wives, husbands and children are all welcome. Just let me know the number attending with you. I will have name tags available upon your arrival, so you can proudly display your graduation year, German name and any honors (such as a poetry or spelling champ). In about a week, I will put out a call for items needed and you can sign up for those (such as napkins). I will supply the hot dogs, buns and a tankard of Sauerkraut! Pictured is a photo from the 2005 BBQ. From left to right we have Claudia, Nora and Nele, all members of the self proclaimed "best class ever".Thursday, July 1, 2010

Orignal Spelling Team
Here is a photo of my original spelling team! From left to right: Claudia, Sabine, Josef, Dietmar and Susanne. This photo was taken in March of 99 and was taken the day after their second German Day (when they were in German II). Both in 98 and 99 this Beginning spelling team won 2nd place, losing to Washington High School both years in the final round. All of these students were members of my original German I class and I first taught them in August of 1997... almost 13 years ago! These kids, without a lot of help from me, laid the foundation for our future champion teams.Friday, May 14, 2010
